say no to the ruby

Godfather event last night. Basically INTERACT gives the exchange kids a French kid to be their mentor or something like that. Mine didn't know one ounce of English so he basically gave me a beer and peaced out. hahaha. The Americans brought beer pong to the foyer! sooo proud. I'm still shocked they serve ruby beer on tap!!!! beer+grenadine+7up=shit.

Cours Julien!

Thanks to Ash's Lets Go France book we found Cours Julien! This is basically the OB of Marseille. Hippies everywhere.... soooooo cool. Best thing is we found a library with English books only consisting of fiction and mystery novels... score! Lots of live music, record shops and sweet graffiti.

day tripper

Explored a beautiful park I discovered a couple of days ago. Got stopped on my way by an old french man who told me that my headphones were too loud. This was all communicated through extremely detailed hand movements since both of us could not understand each other. He was pretty nice and had good intentions so I toned it down a little bit. I know I'm slowly going deaf but I love loud music way to much.
flyin high
look closely at the statue and you'll see he has an axe in his right hand. the axe is stuck in a severed head. this statue is directly in the middle of a playground.

Red Bull is kind of a big deal

HUGE flugtag event today which seemed like the entire city of Marseille attended. Funniest competition ever. People attempt to fly their homemade flying machines off a ramp. They're ranked from 1 through 5 on random things I couldn't understand.... ridiculous but entertaining.

MTV blows

We decided to check out a club next to our dorm on a night that I guess was kind of a big deal. MTV was taping for a show called "shake ton booty". HA! Minus 10 points for MTV. When we got there 2 girls in bathing suits were being painted on in front of everyone which was lame. The DJ was alright and at the end of the night two French rappers came out to perform. I guess Marseille is big on underground hip hop. Pretty cool to see the atmosphere since the French kids were really into it.

Guinness turns 250!

Happy day of birth Guinness! Last night we attempted to celebrate but were disappointed in the fact that the irish pubs were not having any deals. 6 euros a pint is no bueno! The Irish kids were pissed. Great times though... meeting new people everyday is awesome. Super hard to hold convos with French kids though. I can only explain so much, then say sorry and walk away awkwardly.

BEST quote of the night=
me: have you ever played beer pong?
french kid: no, but i've seen it in the movies.
The Canadian Crew + me.

march baby

    LIKES
  • Solitude to dream in
  • Mystery in all its guises
  • Anything discarded to stay discarded
  • The ridiculous
  • like to get 'lost'
    DISLIKES
  • the obvious
  • being criticized
  • feeling all at sea about something
  • know-it-alls
  • pedantry
dislikes continued= materialism, drama and NARCISSISM. I unfortunately have to have sit through two whole 3 hour classes with the most douche bag of a teacher ever. It's amazing how someone so pretty can be so ugly. This guy does not only know he's good looking but he knows that "all the American girls loveeee his accent". I am sooooo not looking forward to being in this douches presence for the next couple of months.

I'd rather look at the world from different angle

I am completely and utterly in love with the Mediterranean ocean. I can maybe do without so much salt but being able to float makes up for it. So amazing. Didn't see as many boobs today. There are so many naturally beautiful people here. I admire their simplicity.

Not All Those Who Wander Are Lost

wise words from Gandalf the Great. Went to the city with ash so we could figure out how get to the airport and train station since we will soon be taking solo adventures in a couple of weeks. Ended up losing each other downtown in a store so I had to figure out how to get back by myself. Decided to wander and explore a bit, do some grocery shopping then headed home. These prince cookies will be the death of me.

"these are the times of our lives"

My justification for being 'that kid' taking a shit load of pictures. Rocked the snake skin print at the Spain kids party Saturday night. Learned that crossfading is no longer my friend. Lost and magically retrieved my bus pass. RIP to one of my favorite head bands.

pretty sweet apt. I think it would be really cool
to have the experience of living in the city. can't
really complain about the international dorm life though.
